Canada!

The drive from Montana into Canada was absolutely beautiful!  No problem at the border (!) and we made our way past field after field after field of canola (!) who knew what the fields of yellow were?

After only getting detoured once - the roads are signposted a little differently than California - and making our way through a 5 mile housing development in order to u-turn and get back on the freeway, we arrived at our destination only a little frazzled!
Our Rv camp is not quite what we thought it would be, very wet, muddy, and very close to neighbors, but it does have a huge field for the dogs to run in.
We are making making dinner, hunkering down, and getting ready for the rodeo tomorrow!

Montana Thru Montana

Headed out around 10:00am through the most amazing wide open, majestic, big skyed country side that is as unique as the California Coast Line. Beautiful rivers, mountains, flat fields, red roofed barns, log cabins, and skies filled with clouds that told so many stories!
Missouri River-meandered parallel to the freeway.
Missouri River that meandered along I-15, filled with colorful boats floating down river.
Rest Stop!

Fredric winning AGAIN at Backgammon (ask him how!)

Lewis & Clark RVPark

Within half an hour of our arrival, 6 other airstreams arrived, five of which will be joining us on the Alaska trip.  Would have been a big party normally, but the mosquitoes were out in force (I couldn't go outside) so everyone stayed inside after an initial, and very quick, glass of wine!
Seriously - I have never met mosquitoes like this - and we are not even in Alaska yet!!! Fredric just came back from walking Baylee and said, "the good news is that there is no wind, the bad news is, that there is no wind"  He killed 'billions' of mosquitoes just out on a 5 minute walk. Had I been out walking I would be a body filled with itching bites right now!

Utah to Montana

Traveled from Utah, through Idaho into Montana. Absolutely beautiful scenery; fields as far as the eye can see filled with potatoes, wheat, and alfalfa; mountains with just a hint of snow still sitting at the very peak; octagonal lava pillars running for miles at the side of the freeway, and the cutest red barned farms!
403 miles, 7 hours.

Stopped for the night at Southside RV Park in Dillon, Montana.  What a spectacularly beautiful place. We backed into a spot on the creek, lovely lawns, flowers, and very friendly proprietors.

Definitely Wine Time!

Baylee loving the creek!
We went for dinner to a local joint called Sparky's... good BBQ and great local beer!

Heading to Utah

Driving Through Utah
Drove from Las Vegas into Utah. Easy roads, beautiful scenery, about a 6 hour  374 mile trip. Stayed at a KOA in Springville. Great people, but again, very hot and a lot of mosquitos. I guess its practice for us when we get into Alaska!
Great Spot at the KOA in Springville, Utah

We're Off!!

Baylee's Ready To Go!

Thursday, July 3rd- We left Morro Bay around 10:00am chomping at the bit - We are ready - definitely, and if we're not, well.... too late now! First stop Vegas - No, no plans for gambling, just a good stopping point!
Hitchin Post RV Park, Las Vegas

First stop was the Hitchin Post in Vegas right off Las Vegas Blvd.  Not a bad place, although the gravel/dirt made its way into Eddie B very quickly.  Worst part - we arrived in 113 degree heat - it was blistering hot! Couldn't take the dogs for a walk!
435 miles today and about 8 1/2 hours, but we are listening to a great book!
